A FLORAL STUDIO
A FLORAL STUDIO
From TV production to floral design?
Yes, that is the transition I made. And to me, it seemed totally natural.
As a TV producer, I interviewed celebrities on red carpets, directed camera crews on set and created hour-long specials. I had what sounded like the perfect job. And it was for a long time. Until I realized that something was missing. I wanted to be fulfilled in my work. I wanted to create something of beauty. That strong desire led me to flowers.
After studying floral design, I landed a job with the sublime, Ariella Chezar. For all of my industry people, she needs no further description. For those of you who are not familiar with her, she is a floral designer whose work has single-handedly inspired a floral movement. In managing Ariella's NYC shop and working closely with her, I learned a great deal about color, texture and balance in floral design, the importance of sourcing local product whenever possible and the art of truly listening to your client and coming up with a design that transforms their dream into a reality.
Before I could do that for my clients though, I had to make my own dream come true. And that dream was to start my company, Kim Jackson Reeves Design.
As a resident of Long Island's North Fork, it made sense to base our floral studio there. And really, I couldn't think of anything better than to be able to draw daily inspiration from the beauty of the neighboring farmlands and vineyards.
My goal was to create custom floral designs that have the ability to transform any space and enhance any event with visual impact. And that's exactly what we do at KJR Design.
Designing with the most beautiful flowers, collaborating with clients, spreading general joy. Working in floral design has fulfilled me in a way that being a TV producer never did. And in the process of losing that identity, I found something I wasn't expecting to find. Myself.
If you are in need of flowers for a special event or are interested in a weekly account for your business or home, we would love to hear from you!
